Irenerose Castillo |

Director and Dance Teacher

Hello! My name is Irenerose Castillo and I am the dance teacher at West High School! This dance program was founded by Lori Bradford in 1991, and I’ve had the privilege of taking over the reigns just 3 short years ago. It has been an incredible experience for me to get to know every student, to teach and choreograph what I love, and to provide performance opportunities to share our art with our friends and loved ones.

A little about me - I have been working professionally as a director, choreographer, and dancer here in the Anchorage community for the past 12 years. The organizations that I have worked for and/or collaborated with include Momentum Dance Collective, Underground Dance Company, Barbara’s School of Dance, Alaska Dance Theater, Theater Artists United, The Light Brigade, UAA, Youth Advisory Commission, Anchorage Artist Co-op, East High School and West High School.

I truly believe that dance can connect us all, and is a form of expression that I want to empower every student with. It is also my goal to see each student become physically stronger in dance technique and choreography, and to help students learn the value of hard work, practice, and commitment.
